Rachel Priestley of The Prodigal Daughter – brings armloads of Italian Gourmet Wine and Food - artisan-produced Italian tastes to New Zealand after 10 years in Italy as a wine and food consultant, sommelier and chef. She says "Food and wine was my life and work for 10 years in Italy. I produce all sorts of Italian salumi products from happy pigs in New Zealand, I have opened six Italian restaurants in Italy, taught Tuscan chefs how to cook Tuscan cuisine better, taught male chefs from Puglia in the South of Italy their own cuisine, and they hated me, in fact one of them took off and still lives in Denmark."
She adds "I ran a truffle shop in Florence, opened a wine bar in Bormio for Amaro Braulio, a restaurant by the sea in Gaeta in a 14th century pharmacy, a restaurant in Naples. And now I am back in New Zealand to supply you with fine Italian food and wine, to feed you Tasty Pig Parts made from happy New Zealand pigs, and to teach you good and bad things in the kitchen and recently opened La Pancetta – Restaurant – WineBar – Deli in Greytown www.lapancetta.co.nz
