On 3 October 1526, Bartolomeo Beretta supplied 185 arquebus barrels to the Arsenal of the Republic of Venice for 296 ducats. This transaction launched what would become the oldest active manufacturing dynasty in the world. Fifteen generations later, the Beretta family still leads the company from Gardone Val Trompia, Italy.
