The ICCNZ Council for 2024 has been formed, welcoming both long-standing and new members to the team. Among the latest additions is Antonio (Tony) Monteleone, a sales executive with global company IDC Technologies, which specialises in cloud software solutions for large-scale tech projects in the Australia/New Zealand region.
We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Tony to discuss his vision and goals for the ICCNZ. Here’s what he had to share about his journey and plans for the Chamber.
How long have you been involved with the ICCNZ, and what motivated you to become a Councillor?
When I first moved to Auckland from Melbourne, I wondered where all the Italians were. Then, in 2021, I met the ICCNZ team at Festival Italiano in Auckland and decided to join the Chamber as a member. I really felt welcomed, and it was great to get involved, so now – as a Councillor – I want to give something back to the friends that I made within the ICCNZ.
When it comes to supporting the Chamber in this new role, do you have any specific projects or initiatives in mind?
My primary goal is to help grow the membership, boosting awareness of the benefits of joining and supporting the organisation of various activities and the Chamber’s Aperitivo events. I also run an Italian classic car club and am a Lancia enthusiast, so I hope to leverage that for the benefit of the ICCNZ. Finally, I’m looking forward to enjoying the great friendships that are formed with other amazing members and within the ICCNZ Council.
How do you think your unique background and skillset will contribute to the success of the ICCNZ and its members?
As a classic car enthusiast, I find that this topic tends to bring people together and spark engaging conversations. I believe that this passion can help enhance the camaraderie and unique personalities we have in the Chamber, fostering a strong sense of community and shared interests.
What message would you like to share with the Chamber’s existing and prospective members?
The ICCNZ is an amazing group of Italians, immigrant Italians, and Kiwi Italians who share a love of all things Italian. Our Aperitivo events are excellent networking opportunities where members can showcase their businesses, explore new opportunities for collaboration, and build meaningful friendships along the way. I hope to see you there!
Finally, what do you see as the most significant challenges and opportunities for the ICCNZ and its members in the coming years?
There’s no denying that the current economic climate is putting real strain on businesses and people, both financially and personally. However, organisations like the ICCNZ can help foster economic activity, uncover new opportunities, and build great relationships while enjoying excellent Italian wines, produce, and products. By coming together, we can navigate these challenges and seize the opportunities that lie ahead.
