Puglia Ristorante Italiano came into being from Cosimo Mazza (aka Mimmo)’s passion for the traditions and the cuisine of his homeland in the Apulia region. He grew up in Oria, a small medieval town in the Provence of Brindisi, and spent most of his childhood in the kitchen of his nonna Francesca and mamma Marisa watching them as they cooked and made the fresh pasta in all the various cuts and shapes.

His passion for Italian cuisine has always been an important part of Cosimo’s life and has accompanied him throughout his 26 years in the hospitality industry.

In 2014 he moved to Auckland with his wife and two daughters ready to take on the new adventure which was the opportunity to work in some of the most prestigious Italian restaurants in town. His own Italian restaurant came into fruition in 2019… and what better name than that of his homeland? – Puglia!

“At Puglia Ristorante Italiano our goal is to offer an authentic and genuine Italian food experience, with the focus being on Apulian recipes. All dishes are made with fresh and high-quality ingredients with pasta made from scratch every day in our kitchen: orecchiette, cavatelli, gnocchi, tagliatelle and more. It is not by chance that our motto is: Authentic Italian, this is Puglia!”.
